Spokesman for the Interior Ministry Hani Abdel Latif said on Thursday
19/9/2013 security forces continue advancing in Kerdasa and will not
walk away until all criminal and terrorist hotbeds are eradicated.
Abdel Latif stated that Kerdasa security operation plan is based on
two elements; first, besieging the area from outside, especially the
hinterland, and this is carried out by army forces and second, engaging
in direct clashes with criminal and terrorist elements and this is
carried out by special police forces.
He confirmed that Giza Assistant Security Chief Nabil Farag was
killed in the security crackdown after sustaining a bullet to his right
side. Police and army forces began at dawn on Thursday a large-scale
operation targeting terrorist and criminal hotbeds in Kerdasa and
avenging the killing of 11 policemen in a Kerdasa police station
massacre almost a month ago.
The operation aims at arresting some 140 wanted criminals and seizing
large quantities of advanced heavy automatic weapons hidden in the
area. Two hundred combat units of the Special Forces and 40 formations
of the Central Security Force in addition to Criminal Investigation
Department forces and the Giza national security force are taking part
in the operation in collaboration with army forces.
