Kenya: MPs Threaten Sanctions Against Ministers

Members of the National Assembly have threatened action against Cabinet secretaries who do not honour invitations to ap- pear before House committees.
National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich failed to appear before the Public Investments Committee yesterday.
He was expected to answer queries over the illegal transfer of government shares in Telkom-Orange worth billions of shillings to private investors.
Rotich, Attorney General Githu Muigai, Investments Secretary Esther Koimet and Telkom Kenya board chairman Eddy Njoroge have defied invitations to appear before the committee over the same issue.
They are said to have sanctioned the irregular sale of the government shares.
