The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) is focusing on increasing the outreach and service quality of its Energy products for Tanzanian people. Next to its current passion as a leading provider of electricity is to be more efficient and a customer focused utility for Tanzania and beyond. The Company has the largest electricity generation, transmission and distribution network in Tanzania.                                              ACCOUNTANT – 1 Post
                                    Reports to: Plant Manager
Responsible for planning, organizing, staff and development of Plant financial affairs and marketing activities under the supervision of Plant Manager Office for the accounting functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the Accounts section, managing, mentoring and motivating the team.
  • Undertake monthly/annual staff reviews.
  • Ensure that procedures are properly documented.
  • To supervise staff under you and ensure that financial, procurement and supplies related matters are practiced in accordance to the prevailing regulations.
  • In charge of all financial activities in TANESCO Mtwara, including control of budget expenditure and providing budget with financial information that meet each section need.
  • Preparing annual budget and updates forecasts as necessary and present the budget to Plant management.
  • Responsible for the correct operation and allocation of works orders and keep its records including R&M management.
  • Responsible for safe custody of safe keys, cheque books, LPO’s and any other important financial documents.
  • Certifying local purchase orders, payment vouchers and be second cheque signatory adhering to the authorization limits stipulated in the company’s financial regulations.
  • Pursue personnel development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the function.
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements;
  • A good bachelor degree in Accountancy, Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy, BAF or its equivalent in the field
  • At least 2 years working experience
  • CPA will be an added advantage
ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT ( 1 POST MTWARA GAS PLANT)
Reports to: Plant Accountant
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Accurately and timely preparation, allocation, posting and reporting of all capital works orders, and preparing all necessary certificates.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • To ensure correct operation and allocation of capital works orders (CWO), R&M Works Orders, and Changeable Works Orders etc.
  • To prepare all necessary certificates promptly as instructed in the accounting instruction and other reports and submit to relevant authorities.
  • To maintain proper records of all works orders opened and closed.
  • To perform any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Ordinary certificate of secondary education and above
  • Holder of ATEC II or Ordinary Diploma in accountancy
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a reputable company
  • Good communication and customer care skills
  • Fluency in both English and Kiswahili
  • Advanced computer skills
SUPPLIES AND TRANSPORT OFFICER – 1 Post
Reports to: Manager
Successful candidates will be responsible Managing store activities, Transport, stock control and issue of materials for smooth operation in the Plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To manage and coordinate all stores processes in the Plant to ensure that availability of materials, tools and equipment.
  • To advise Plant Manager regarding store matters to ensure adherence to the company and public stores regulations.
  • To maintain and control stocks of materials to ensure efficient delivery and issues of the same.
  • To plan, monitor and control the activities of members of department in order to ensure the most effective utilization of resources and achievement of objectives and targets.
  • To produce monthly reports and returns in order that the management gets informed of the regional performance.
  • To ensure stores data (in all forms) are kept and controlled to prevent fraud and mis                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               -usage.
  • To control all company transport and to ensure are in good order.
  • To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by superiors.
Minimum Requirements;
  • A good Degree in Materials Management/Procurement or equivalent
  • 6 months to 1 year experience in a reputable company

The ability to work under pressure fast and adapt to changes. Willingness and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
